Barnsley PC Named Response Officer Of The Year

South Yorkshire Police Federation has congratulated PC Inderpal Sandhu, winner of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Response Officer of the Year award, on his “incredible achievement”.

PC Sandhu, known by his colleagues as Indy, joined South Yorkshire Police in 2002 and has spent his whole career as a response officer in the Barnsley district. This continuous service has allowed him to gather extensive local knowledge, and he is widely recognised by the public as a familiar, trusted and friendly officer.

He won the prestigious award after he was one of 43 nominations received from police forces across the country. He will receive his award at the Police Federation conference in October.

South Yorkshire Police Federation Chair Steve Kent said: “PC Sandhu is a proper grafter, he goes out, he bounces from job to job. He has always had a reputation for excellence, and he’s not in any way slowed down, he’s carried on. It’s an incredible achievement and we’re all proud of him and how he represents South Yorkshire Police. It’s absolutely well deserved, fantastic news.”
