Awards for burglary busting Detective Constables
TWO Detective Constables have received District Commander’s Commendations for their response to an aggravated burglary in Doncaster
DC Joanna Vine and DC Alexandra Owen were presented with their commendations by Chief Superintendent Morley last month.
The officers responded to a reported aggravated burglary in Chantry Close, where an unknown man had broken into an elderly couple’s home and assaulted one of the occupants.
Valuable items were taken during the burglary, but the detectives’ actions – including the use of the ‘Track my iPhone’ app – led them to a property where a suspect was identified. He ran from them, but was eventually detained and found to be in possession of stolen property from the burglary.
The citation read: “You are both a credit to Doncaster and South Yorkshire Police. In identifying this offender and eventually detaining him, you displayed a great deal of professionalism, determination, courage and investigative skill. You should be proud of your actions and as a result, the communities of Doncaster are a little safer.”
