Looking Back On The National Police Bravery Awards

Two South Yorkshire Police officers who caught a violent rapist moments after he had attacked a woman in her own home were recognised at last month’s National Police Bravery Awards.

PC Toby Brown and PC Harriet Murray attended the awards reception at Downing Street on 13 July, before attending an evening ceremony.

South Yorkshire Police Federation Chair Steve Kent said that the officers thoroughly enjoyed their experience at the awards.

He said: “The day was fantastic and our officers absolutely loved it. There is a tiny bit of disappointment that they didn’t win the regional award, but that is outweighed by the fact that everyone at the awards genuinely feels like and is treated like a winner.

“Toby and Harriet thoroughly enjoyed their time and it’s just a uniquely positive experience. They felt like a million dollars, and rightly so after everything that they’d done. It’s an event that gets nothing but positivity from the public.”
