Employment tribunal rules on pension scheme

AN EMPLOYMENT tribunal has ruled that the government’s transitional pension arrangements for the 2015 Firefighter’s Pension Scheme did not discriminate on the grounds of age, sex or race.

The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has said it will now work with its legal team to consider the reasons given for the judgement and then decide whether or not to take the case to an Employment Appeal Tribunal.

Andy Fittes, General Secretary of the Police Federation of England and Wales, said: “We note the outcome of this tribunal and need to look at the judgement in detail as well as wait to hear whether there will be an appeal.”
