Couple transferred to South Yorkshire for better life

LOVE is in the air for two Sheffield officers who met on the job in London, and transferred up north together “to improve life for themselves and their young daughter”.

PC Toby Brown and PC Christina Coyne will be tying the knot in August after a six-year romance that started on the same beat with the Metropolitan Police.

Toby, 39, and Christina, 29, met in 2010 when they worked in the Tower Hamlets district of London with the Met. They then moved from Essex to Sheffield – Toby’s home town – this time last year.

Christina, who works from Moss Way police station in Sheffield, said: “Like many people, we feel quality of life and striking a work life balance is very important, so we moved to Sheffield for a better lifestyle. Toby and I transferred from the Met to South Yorkshire Police in February 2016 to create a better environment for ourselves and more importantly our four-year-old daughter Ruby.

“So far, so good. We’re living right on the edge of the Peak District National Park and we no longer have to plan our days out around Tube travel and journeying across London. Life’s much better here in Sheffield and we’re looking forward to enjoying a lifetime of happiness together.”

Toby, who is part of the Sheffield North West Local Policing Team, explained: “We got to know each other while working on district in London and our love has grown from there. You might say it’s been blossoming ever since we first met.

“We wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for the job and we’re both really excited about our wedding in August, though there’s still plenty of organising to do ahead of the big day.”

The pair were spoken to by the force to promote transferring to South Yorkshire Police.
