Lifesaving officer recognised for going “beyond the call of duty”
A SHEFFIELD police officer who gave life-saving treatment to a stab victim has received a Royal Humane Society award for acting “above the call of duty”.
PC Tracey Bullas, 44, was presented with a Resuscitation Certificate by the society for carrying out mouth to nose CPR – an act that surgeons said “saved the victim’s life”.
In March last year, PC Bullas gave treatment to a man who had been stabbed multiple times during an incident in Beighton, Sheffield.
It was PC Bullas’ decision to remove the blade from the victim’s neck to carry out CPR that medics have confirmed saved his life.
Speaking of her award PC Bullas said: “It’s an honour to be recognised by the Royal Humane Society.
“The biggest reward for me was to see the difference that my actions made to the victim’s life and that he got to see his family again.”
PC Bullas was presented with her certificate by Bob Dyson, former Deputy Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police.
She was also presented with a RHS award in 2012 for carrying out CPR on an 11-year-old boy.
