Take Care Of Yourselves If Sick, Officers Told

POLICE officers should not be worried about taking sick leave if they are feeling under the weather during the Covid-19 pandemic.

South Yorkshire Police currently has a relatively low rate of absentees due to sickness, meaning officers should not drag themselves into work if they are poorly, according to South Yorkshire Police Federation.

Chairman Steve said: “The force have been really proactive and they seem to be ahead of the curve in terms of the planning for abstractions. I can’t really argue with them because they’ve been bang on.

“They’d say, ‘Look if you’re symptomatic, we’ve got our staff here’. If people go off because they feel a bit sniffy and just don’t want to chance it, it’s absolutely fine because we’ve got all hands at the pump.”
