SOUTH Yorkshire Police is recruiting and has \u201cexciting opportunities available for experienced officers to join a forward thinking, modern Police Force who provide a wide range of career opportunities and development.\u201d<\/p>\n
Neil Bowles, Chairman of South Yorkshire Police Federation, said the force continues to recruiting as \u201cmore officers are leaving, either through retirement or mid-service to do something else, so the force needs to recruit just to keep on target of their own reductions.\u201d<\/p>\n
Applications from the force are being sought from both Police Constables and Detective Constables. Detective Constables must be PIP 2 accredited with experience in public protection, proactive crime and reactive crime.<\/p>\n
Mr Bowles added: \u201cPolicing is still a good job, it\u2019s a trusted job amongst the public, it\u2019s a needed job, it\u2019s a very rewarding job. It\u2019s just not the job that I joined thirty years ago, but there again if you come across someone who was approaching retirement when I joined he\u2019d probably say the same thing to me.<\/p>\n
\u201cPolicing is required, and it\u2019s a very worthwhile career for people who want to join. And we\u2019ve got a lot of local people do want to join the police, and as for transferring, well obviously people want to transfer back to where they or their family comes from, so yeah we\u2019d welcome them with open arms.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile the force is also looking to recruit more Special constables.<\/p>\n
Mr Bowles added: \u201cThat was always a long term plan of visibility, as they call it, that if we\u2019ve got more Specials it looks like we\u2019ve got more cops. Specials have their place, as complimentary to regular officers, but they\u2019re not designed to replace them.\u201d<\/p>\n
