Federation Supporting Unity Tour Riders
South Yorkshire Police Federation will be providing vital backup to colleagues and friends taking part in this year’s UK Police Unity Tour.
The 16th annual event is a long-distance cycle ride taking place from 6 to 9 August to honour fallen colleagues and raise vital funds for the charity Care of Police Survivors (COPS).
This year, Secretary Dave Baines, John Revel and other Federation representatives will be supporting the tour in the Federation’s wellbeing van.
The Police Unity Tour ends at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire as the ceremonial culmination of the three-day event, bringing hundreds of officers from regional chapters together.
Federation Chair Steve Kent said: “This is such an important date in the policing calendar. It provides great support for families to see riders as they turn up at the Arboretum to honour their loved ones, but it is also great for us to support those officers on the tour.
“This is right up there with National Police Memorial Day in honouring the fallen and supporting their families, and we are happy to be involved to raise awareness and vital funds for COPS.”
