Brave PC Clarke Deserves Recognition
A South Yorkshire Police officer has been praised in the press for saving a man’s life on Christmas Day.
PC Conna Clarke responded to an urgent call on 25 December to assist a man on a bridge in Doncaster who was clearly in distress.
When he arrived, PC Clarke saw the man climb over the barrier of the bridge. He acted quickly, running out of his police vehicle and grabbing hold of the man to prevent him from falling.
He then used his own strength to get the man to safety. The man was given appropriate support by medical professionals.
South Yorkshire Police Federation Chair Steve Kent said: “This is a brilliant example of what our officers do, and it’s so nice that it’s been recognised.
“PC Clarke did a great job that day and undoubtedly saved that person’s life. Here in the Federation, we hear about these types of incidents every day, but it’s rare that they make the press, so we welcome that. Our officers deserve that recognition.”
