New Toolkit From Oscar Kilo For Officers Loved Ones

A wealth of resources has been made available to police officers’ loved ones as part of a new toolkit to help them manage the stresses and strains of the service.

Resources about health, wellbeing, finance, education and other key information have been published to help families feel ‘heard, valued and informed’, according to Oscar Kilo, the National Police Wellbeing Service .

Developed in collaboration with Merseyside Police, North Wales Police, Bedfordshire Police and Staffordshire Police, the toolkit is intended to help bolster the support that forces currently have available to strengthen connections with police families and acknowledge the vital role they play, whilst often managing their own busy careers and commitments.

South Yorkshire Police Federation fully supports the resource, and has praised Oscar Kilo for providing it.

Steve Kent, Federation Chairman, said: ‘There needs to be a one-stop shop for people who know that if their loved ones are struggling then they can go online, and see alll the options that they’ve got.

‘We do have options, both in our force and in the federation, but a one-stop shop where everyone could go in and proactively look at stuff is really important.

‘I’m starting to see people reporting certain issues on other people’s behalf, which is a great start. We need to embed that more. Families need to look after each other. This is really important and it’s a really positive step.

You can access the toolkit in the Family Life section of the Oscar Kilo website.
