Celebrating Heroic South Yorkshire Officers

Two heroic South Yorkshire Police officers will be attending the National Police Bravery Awards on Thursday 11 July.

In an extremely distressing incident in November 2022, PC Anna Kelsey and PC Nicola Burn were first on the scene at a double murder. A man had killed his elderly parents and was still brandishing the knife, but the officers managed to get the knife off him before discovering the victims.

South Yorkshire Police Federation Chair Steve Kent said: “I’m honoured to take these two officers to Downing Street and the National Police Bravery Awards ceremony. The incident that they dealt with so calmly and professionally was extremely challenging and dangerous.

“I know they are really looking forward to the awards; all the officers from around the country who are being celebrated that day are already winners.”
