PC Emma Bloodworth named South Yorkshire Police Officer of the Year

PC Emma Bloodworth, who has been named South Yorkshire Police Officer of the Year, sets a “fantastic example”, the Federation has said.

At the force’s annual awards ceremony, Emma was said to have “worked tirelessly to bring in working practices to protect children at risk of abuse”.

South Yorkshire Police Federation Chair Steve Kent said: “Emma sets a fantastic example. It’s absolutely vital that officers get recognised and rewarded, because there’s so much negative press about police officers at the minute, we don’t see enough positivity being shared. Congratulations to Emma, well-deserved. It’s a really nice thing to see.”

Steve added that the Federation was also looking at ways to regularly reward officers and recognise when they go beyond the call of duty.
