Lauren Poultney Appointed As New Deputy Chief

THE appointment of ACC Lauren Poultney as South Yorkshire’s new Deputy Chief Constable will provide welcome continuity in the force, the Federation has said.

ACC Poultney takes up the job at the end of April following Mark Roberts’ appointment as Cheshire Police’s new Chief Constable.

South Yorkshire Police Federation Chair Steve Kent said he was looking forward to carrying on the ‘productive’ working relationship between the Federation and the force’s senior team.

He said: “We absolutely welcome the appointment of Lauren Poultney as DCC. We have a productive relationship with the senior command of this force, always have done, and that will continue with her.

“We’re really pleased to see her go into the role.”

ACC Poultney has undertaken both uniformed and detective roles in her 23 years with South Yorkshire Police and has worked in several areas, including neighbourhood policing, major crime and protecting vulnerable people.

Steve added: “We look forward to working with her and it’s essential that we have this continuity going forward.”
