South Yorkshire Police taking steps to address CID recruitment and retention concerns

SOUTH Yorkshire Police Chiefs are taking steps to address concerns around CID recruitment and retention, South Yorkshire Police Federation has said.

Chairman Steve Kent said the force was listening to the Staff Association’s concerns around stress levels, resources and the lack of incentive to become a detective and was taking steps to address some of the problems in the service.

“The force has assured us that measures are being looked at and being put in place as we speak to address these concerns and these issues, and both myself and our Detectives Lead DC Christian Borum have been invited to discuss these developments with the force,” he said.

“We see this as a positive step, and hopefully, some of these issues will be resolved in the not too distant future.”

In an article for Copper Connection this month, DC Borum said “there’s certainly a feeling that CID feels undervalued.” See more here https://sypfcopperconnection.co.uk/?p=184240
