Tributes paid to South Yorkshire police officer PC Stephen Jackson

A SOUTH Yorkshire Police officer revered by colleagues as being a ‘top bloke’ has sadly died.

PC Stephen Jackson passed away this week from cancer.

Tributes have since poured in for the popular officer.

South Yorkshire Federation led the way in paying tribute to him. On its Facebook page, the Federation said a ‘fine and well-loved’ officer had been lost too soon.

“It is with the greatest sadness that we announce that on Saturday, we lost our own PC 1676, Stephen Jackson, following a short battle with cancer.

A very sad night indeed for South Yorkshire Police,” the Federation statement said.

“We have lost a fine and well-loved colleague after a fight with a horrendous illness.

“RIP Jacko. All the messages and posts we have seen already show how much you were loved by all throughout the force. Rest easy.”

Among those messages and posts was one calling PC Jackson the ‘loveliest bloke in the world’ and that his ‘booming voice and massive bear hugs’ would be sorely missed.

Another well-wisher commented: “What a top bloke and a very sad and painful loss. Sleep well big fella.”

Our thoughts and condolences are with PC Jackson’s family and friends.
