“PC Ali was a well-liked officer whose colleagues are devastated by what has happened.”

PC Ali was a neighbourhood policing officer based in Rotherham who had 18 years’ service with the force.

Neil Bowles, Chairman of South Yorkshire Police Federation, said: “I knew Hassan when I was at Rotherham. He worked with me on my public order team. He was a nice, friendly lad. Had a smile and talked to anyone, and everyone respected him.

“This is a devastating loss for friends, family and colleagues.”
